coming this fall 4 new novels by ivan

I know.  About a year ago I promised an interview with Ivan, and needless to say, that interview did not materialize.  All I can say is that Ivan is a talented writer but like most creative types, he has little patience for public relations and promotion (and like most writers, he has no sympathy for his long-suffering editor).

However, Ivan has been hard at work, and I'm happy to say that we'll have four new Ivan Novels to publish this fall (well, strictly speaking, three novels and one novella).  Ivan can be an annoying human being (I think he's human--sometimes I'm not sure), but I cannot fault the man's work ethic.  

During a rare visit to my office, I asked him if he did anything but write.  I had to ask him again because, as usual, he wasn't paying attention to me, and Ivan said: "Well, I spent the first half of my life doing things, so now I'm going to spend the second half writing about things--things I make up, because I write Science Fiction.  I don't yet know what I'll be doing after I die, but I'm sure there'll be plenty of things to occupy my time."

That's the kind of answer you get when you ask Ivan a question, so I smiled and nodded.  Then Ivan pointed to the window and said: "Hey, what's that?"  I went to the window to check things out, and when I turned around, Ivan was gone.

About a week after that, I got an E-mail from Ivan.  All it said was: 

                         Four new stories by this fall.  Depend on it. 

And I've learned that when Ivan says to depend on something, you can.
